Iveco has updated the Metro with a Cummins ISL engine replacing the ISC, the Delta has a totally new look with a new front end, rear suspension and Cummins ISL engine also replacing the ISC.
Volvo has released its new B13B coach chassis powered by a 13-litre engine that is said to be more fuel efficient than the engine in the B12B that it replaces.
MAN showed the 18.320NL, its Euro 5 city bus chassis and this one was fitted with a Voith transmission.
Scania had showed off its first K480 Euro 5 chassis with a clutchless (that is, two pedal) Opticruise and an Irizar body - built for Grays Coaches.
New bodies
Mills-Tui brought its prototype Urban Edge city bus, a modern-looking vehicle that has been a few years in the planning, this was mounted on a Mercedes Benz O500 chassis.
North Coast was showing off one of its new aluminium bodies from Malaysia, this one was underpinned by a Volvo B7RLE chassis for Bus Queensland.
Custom Coaches showed its new CB80 city bus on a Mercedes-Benz O500 chassis and two of their new SB50 school bus bodies, one on a Hino chassis and the other on an Iveco chassis. (A review in these two will appear soon in ABC).
Irizar released its long-awaited citybus body the Iria, there were two on display. The first one was a single-door bus built for Wangaratta Coaches. It was fitted with ADR68 seat-belted leather seats and all the seats on the low-floor area were mounted on quick release rails. The second bus was a two-door bus built as a demonstrator. Both buses were mounted on Scania K-series chassis.
New complete buses
Scania showed one of the production batch of its new A30 school/charter buses for Bus Queensland, this vehicle is a Scania K270 with a Chinese body on it (this bus is due for a feature in the next {ITAL}ABC{ITAL})
BCI showed its Cityrider E city bus as a diesel with an aluminum body and as a hybrid with a stainless steel body – these buses share the same front and rear panels.
Heavy Vehicles Australia released the Glider, its new mini-bus, it features s Cummins ISF engine and seating for 20.
White Higer showed a pre-production sample of its Munro 27-seat mini-bus, this is also powered by a Cummins ISF engine. The other new bus in the Higer stand was the 12.2 meter Roadboss 57-seat school/charter bus.
Naturally ABC will be reviewing all the new products as they become available. There is going to be some interesting buses and coaches coming out in the second half of 2010 so keep reading ABC to find out more.
